Android: AppsBridge required for media controls
On Android, media controls use AppsBridge (by HomeAuto) to communicate with your music app. GPS and navigation work without it β AppsBridge is only needed for the ring controls.
- Download the APK from gitlab.com/homeauto.cc/appsbridge and install it.
- Open AppsBridge, grant Media and Notification permissions, and leave it running in the background.
- Reopen Navigaze β ring media controls will now work.
AppsBridge also provides a GPS fallback if the SDK native location isn't working on your device.

How transit mode works
- Ambient departures β Transit mode finds your nearest stop automatically and shows live countdowns on the glasses. No need to search anything.
- Ring-scroll the glasses to cycle through up to 4 departures. Selecting one shows a walk-to-stop card on your phone with walking time and distance.
- Stop board popups β tap any bus stop or metro marker on the map to see a live departure board for that stop.
- Journey planning β search a destination and select Transit in the route preview. Navigaze plans a full multi-leg journey including walking connections.
- On-board HUD β once your vehicle departs, the glasses switch to the on-bus view: line name, direction, next stop, stops remaining, and ETA.
Speed and limit only. Nothing else. Useful when you want maximum view and minimal distraction.

Police & camera alerts
Police and speed-camera warnings are illegal in some jurisdictions (parts of Europe, for example). Turn this off where the law requires it β using them lawfully is your responsibility.
Alert types
Fixed cameras come from OpenStreetMap and 40 official government feeds β always available, no key required. Community reports (police sightings, hazards, road closures) require community alerts to be enabled below.
Community alerts
Crowd-sourced reports from other Navigaze drivers β police sightings, speed cameras, accidents, hazards, and road closures. Free, no key or account required.
When enabled, your reports are submitted anonymously and you receive reports from others in real time.
Your presence on the map
Your position appears as a glasses icon on other users' maps. A new random ID is generated every launch, positions are shown ~1β2 min late, and all data is auto-deleted after 10 min β no history is kept. Disable this to stay invisible while still seeing other drivers.
Group Ride
Adds group-ride screens with encrypted relay transport. Scenic routing is always available.
OpenWeb Ninja β Waze-sourced alerts
Adds real-time Waze police reports, community hazards, and traffic-jam colours on the phone map β useful in regions where Waze has strong user coverage.

Voice Search checks Home, Work, and saved places first, then nearby places, then address search. It's available from the in-glasses menu.
Navigaze tracks walks, runs, and bike rides β no separate app needed.
How it works
- Switch to Bike or Walk mode while not navigating. An 8-second prompt asks if you want to start tracking β tap Yes.
- The exercise bar shows active time, distance, and average pace. The same stats appear on the glasses HUD, replacing the clock line.
- Tap the pause button (two bars) to freeze the clock and stop accumulating distance. Paused time is excluded from pace. Tap the play icon to resume.
- Tap Stop when you are done. A results card appears with your full summary, a map image of your route, and a Share button.
- The Share button opens your phone's native share sheet so you can send your results to Messages, Instagram, or anywhere else.
- Every completed workout is saved automatically to your device.
- On Android, Navigaze syncs Health Connect through APPS Bridge when it is available. Use Sync Health Connect in Past workouts to force a refresh.
- Strava sync coming soon β one-tap upload of your route from the results card, for Navigaze Pro subscribers.

Open Charge Map β EV charger coverage
Expands EV charging station data beyond what OpenStreetMap provides. EV chargers already appear on the map without a key β add this for broader and more up-to-date coverage.

Optional: Real-Time Transit Keys
These are optional β Transitous Free works well. Add a key only if you need the most precise real-time departure data in your city.
How to Get These Keys
Google Routes β Go to console.cloud.google.com, enable the Routes API, create a key, and restrict it to that API.
HERE Transit β Sign up at platform.here.com, create a project, generate an API key, and enable the Public Transit product.
Open a topic for the phone, map, glasses, and route controls.
HUD modes
Switch modes using the round buttons on the left side of the phone, or from the in-glasses menu.
- Drive β Speed + limit sign, turn arrow + street name, and optional media controls. Ambient shows speed and limit only.
- Moto β Same route data as Drive, optimized for a helmet visor.
- Bike β Mini-map, compass, clock, speed, weather, and turn instructions. The IG menu can start Track Ride.
- Walk β Same layout as Bike. The IG menu can start Track Run.
- Transit β Nearby departures, live countdowns, and on-vehicle stop progress.
- Minimal β Speed and speed limit only.
In-glasses menu
- Launch from glasses β opens directly into the in-glasses menu.
- Launch from phone β opens directly into the last-used HUD.
- Double-tap from the HUD β opens the in-glasses menu. Scroll to move, tap to select.
- Main menu double-tap β shows the native exit prompt.
- Submenu double-tap β goes back one menu level.
- During navigation β the active menu shows End Route, Add Stop, and Return to HUD. Double-tap returns to the main menu.
Voice search
- Voice Search uses the glasses microphone only.
- It checks Home, Work, and saved places first, then nearby places, then address search.
- Examples: Home, McDonald's, coffee, or a street address.
- Requires a Groq or Deepgram API key. Add your key in Settings to enable voice search.
- Voice Search is available from the in-glasses menu. When idle it starts a route; while navigating it adds the result as a stop.
Navigation
- Search an address, saved place, recent place, POI, dropped pin, or map link to start a route.
- Route previews show up to 3 options before you tap Start.
- Add Stop inserts a waypoint without ending active navigation.
- Faster-route banners, rerouting, and the Resume bar stay available during normal phone navigation.
- Voice guidance modes are All guidance & alerts, Alerts only, or Off.
Route planner
- Open Route Planner from the three-dot controls menu.
- Import a GPX file, add waypoints, or build from Saved Places and Recents.
- Waypoint 0 is always your current position; Return to start adds your current position as the final stop.
- Round trip distance and duration target the whole loop, not one leg. Scenic uses up to five internal shaping points.
- Saved route templates can be reopened, used for a similar round trip, or deleted.
Search, pins & saved places
- Paste a Google Maps link, short maps.app.goo.gl link, or coordinates into the search box.
- Long-press the map to drop a pin. From the popup you can navigate, save it, or mark parking.
- Tap Home or Work to navigate. Long-press either chip to reassign it.
- Star any destination to save it. Tap the pencil icon to rename it.
- Opening Saved Places or Recent Places hides the keyboard so the list is easier to view.
Map controls
- Long-press drops a pin.
- Double-tap zooms in.
- Hold and drag moves the map.
- Single tap on the map dismisses open destination dropdowns.
- The orientation button toggles north-up and heading-up. Recenter locks the map back onto your position.
Pocket lock & standby
- The lock bubble starts unlocked every app launch and is not saved.
- Triple-tap the lock bubble to lock or unlock phone controls.
- While locked, controls remain visible but only the lock bubble can be used.
- Glasses-only standby hides the full map and keeps the route instruction visible β tap π Standby in the bottom bar while navigating. Saves phone battery on long drives.
Transit
- Navigaze uses Transitous by default. It is free and requires no key.
- Transit ambient mode shows the nearest stop's live departure board on the glasses.
- Ring-scroll cycles through up to 4 departures and shows walk-to-stop details on the phone.
- Tap a bus stop or metro marker on the map to open a live departure board.
- Transit route planning supports multi-leg journeys with walking connections.
Exercise tracking
- Bike mode can track a ride. Walk mode can track a run or walk.
- The phone bar and glasses HUD show active time, distance, and average pace.
- Pause excludes stopped time from pace calculations.
- Finished workouts are saved automatically in Workouts.
Alerts & reporting
- The orange report bubble files police, camera, accident, hazard, or closure reports anonymously.
- When you pass an active alert, the Still there? prompt helps keep reports accurate.
- Camera markers come from OpenStreetMap and official government camera feeds.
- When media title and controls are off, the HUD uses that space for active alerts or No Alerts while alerts are enabled.
Convoy
- Open Convoy from the three-dot controls menu. It is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings.
- Create or join up to five groups with an invite link, QR, or Group ID and invite secret.
- Joining a convoy route shares your live location with that group until you leave the route.
- Group sessions and the enable switch are saved on device so they survive app restarts.
- Chat, route, and location content use encrypted peer messaging; the relay only helps riders connect.
Night mode
Auto follows sunset and sunrise. Day keeps the phone map bright. Night dims the map and switches the phone UI to a dark theme.
If the glasses are too bright at night, say "Hey Even, set brightness to 10" or adjust brightness in the Even app.
EV chargers & nearby drivers
- EV charging stations from OpenStreetMap appear as markers on the map.
- Add an Open Charge Map key under Map & data keys for broader charger coverage.
- Nearby Navigaze users appear as opt-in anonymous green glasses icons with delayed, temporary positions.
- 1.11.173 β The glasses menu now leads with where you're going: double-tap the glasses and Voice Search, Saved Places and Recents are right at the top β say a destination and drive. Mode switching moved below them (the round button on the map is still the quickest way). Also: the phone's controls button now fans out in a tidy aligned column β settings first, then lock, audio, north-up.
- 1.11.172 β Works out of the box, and now it says so. The welcome tour is two quick cards instead of three ("Search. Start. Drive." is genuinely the whole setup β no account, no keys), and Navigaze no longer suggests anything on day one: the app proves itself for a few days of real use before Pro is ever mentioned. Bring-your-own API keys remain in Settings for tinkerers.
- 1.11.170 β The map is just a map now. The compass, audio, lock and settings buttons fold into a single controls button at the bottom right β tap it to fan them out, exactly like the mode dock. The recenter button only appears once you've panned away from your position, and the orange report button shows while you're moving or navigating β parked, it steps aside.
- 1.11.169 β A calmer map screen. The six HUD-mode buttons now fold into one β tap your current mode to fan out the full list, pick one, and it tucks away again. Tips and banners (resume route, parking, key suggestions) now take turns instead of piling up, and they wait politely until you're done with the safety notice and welcome tour.
- 1.11.166 β Clearer voice search. If your glasses microphone doesn't pick up any sound, Navigaze now tells you to check mic access and speak into your glasses β instead of a puzzling "No speech heard." Make sure the Even app has microphone permission, and speak while wearing the glasses.

- On a route β route fetched once and re-fetched if you leave it; faster-route check every ~2.5 min; speed limits pre-fetched for the full route; cameras and incidents every ~90 s; weather once at start.
Legal
β οΈ Drive safely
Navigaze is a heads-up display aid. It does not replace your full attention to the road.
- Glance at the glasses only when safe β like a mirror. Do not interact with your phone while driving.
- Know your local law. Using a head-up display or smart glasses while driving is restricted or illegal in some places. Confirming it's legal where you drive is your responsibility.
- Alerts may be regulated. Police and speed-camera warnings are illegal in some countries β you can turn them off in Settings, and using them lawfully is your responsibility.
- Speed limits, routes, and alerts may be inaccurate, incomplete, or delayed. Never rely on them β obey real signs, signals, and traffic laws.
- You assume all risk. You are solely responsible for safe and legal operation of your vehicle.
